THE SHORT VERSION
- Include familiar protein foods in meals you can manage.
- Seek an individual plan for medical dietary needs or difficulty eating.
Start with ordinary foods
NHS inform suggests including a protein source at meals while taking weight-loss medication. Options include beans, lentils, tofu, eggs, fish, meat, yoghurt and suitable dairy alternatives. Choose foods that fit your preferences and budget rather than assuming a specialist product is required.
You might add beans to a jacket potato, use lentils in a familiar sauce or have yoghurt with breakfast. A powder is not automatically necessary. Keep vegetables, starchy foods and other food groups in the pattern too.
Get help when eating enough is difficult
If appetite or nausea means repeatedly leaving most meals, ask for a nutrition review. Bring a brief account of what you manage. A dietitian can help adjust portions, timing and food choices.
There is no single target here for everyone. Kidney disease and other medical dietary needs can change advice, so check before following a high-protein plan. Ask how nutrition and strength will be monitored. Persistent vomiting, difficulty drinking or marked weakness needs medical assessment, not simply a new supplement.
